Program Description

Spanish as a Second Language courses are an exceptional opportunity for those who wish to learn another language. With these courses, you can learn at your own pace and understand the culture that accompanies the language. You can also make friends with other students and practice your language skills in a safe environment. With our dynamic course, you can become a confident Spanish speaker quickly.

ESOL Program Description

IEP101

In this course, students initially have little or no knowledge of Spanish. Spanish learners communicate for social and instructional purposes in the university environment. 6 semester credits; 90 clock hours.

IEP201

In this course, students can understand short phrases and sentences. Spanish learners communicate information, ideas, and concepts in the content area of Spanish.
6 semester credits; 90 clock hours. Prerequisites: IEP101.

IEP301

In this course, students understand more complex speech, but still require repetition. Spanish learners communicate information, ideas, and concepts in the content area of Mathematics.
6 semester credits; 90 clock hours. Prerequisites: IEP201.

IEP401

In this course, students’ language skills are adequate for most of their everyday needs. Spanish learners communicate information, ideas, and concepts in the science content area.
6 semester credits; 90 clock hours. Prerequisites: IEP301.

IEP501

In this course, students can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, but are not necessarily proficient in Spanish. Spanish learners communicate information, ideas, and concepts in the content area of History.
6 semester credits; 90 clock hours. Prerequisites: IEP401.

IEP601

In this course, students will review everything they learned in previous classes. Students will exit the program after this course.
6 semester credits; 90 clock hours. Prerequisites: IEP501.
